Summer Camping

Eklutna Lake, north of Anchorage

Armed with some sausages, a tent, a pair of bikes and a pair of dogs, we went camping. We drove north about 20 minutes, then east another 15 minutes until we got to the Eklutna Lake trailhead. The snow was gone and the lake ice was thinking about melting, with clearwater along the edges. It was, amazingly, baking hot. Uncomfortable even. I couldn't believe it. I was caught out with a long pair of pants and wanting shorts. That didn't happen one day last summer, and here we were, a few days into April and it was smoking (for Alaska).

The dogs rejoiced and we cycled along the gravel path until we spotted a good beach campsite.

Birthday Quilt

It's Brendan's birthday today. In the last week I pulled out the stops and made my first ever quilt. I loved the process. The project would never have come together if it wasn't for my quilting friend Maria who let me use her quilting machine to do the stitching over the top. I think he likes it.

Sessi Got Married

Dabyminga Property, Tallarook, Victoria

Amongst photos too gorgeous to know what to do with, I found this one. Is she listening to termites?

Team Nordic

This winter Brendan has been playing hockey again. After spending 5 days a week, every day of highschool playing hockey, he'd taken a break. I was shocked to discover he was wearing a garter belt when he took off his shorts in the change room. Aparently they all wear them and it keeps their socks up. Kind of kinky I think.

Chinless

I have been told that babies have this profile to maximize their ability to latch on to the nipple. By the looks of it Harlan has no excuses.

Family in Idaho

Colin and Kate's House. Moscow, Idaho

In early March Brendan and I flew to Idaho to visit Brendan's brother's family. We had missed their visit over Christmas due to massive snow storms in the lower 48 that distrupted flights into Alaska. Brendan's niece Ada is 2.
